AMD Unveils Threadripper Halo Station Deskside AI Workstation, Coming in 2027

AMD showed a prototype at IFA 2026 pairing the Threadripper PRO 9995WX with Instinct-class accelerators. Up to 2.6TB of combined memory and up to 16.4TB/s of total memory bandwidth. The product page says 'Coming in 2027'; pricing is not announced.

AMD showed the AMD Threadripper Halo Station, a deskside AI workstation, for the first time at IFA 20261. It is presented as a prototype rather than a shipping product, and the product page states “Coming in 2027.”

  • Pairs a Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX (“Zen 5,” 96 cores / 192 threads) with AMD Instinct-class accelerators
  • Memory is up to 576GB of HBM3e plus up to 2TB of RDIMM, for up to 2.6TB combined. Total system memory bandwidth is up to 16.4TB/s
  • The claim of “up to 3.4x the total system memory of the NVIDIA DGX Station” is AMD’s own comparison. The footnoted configuration is four Instinct MI350P accelerators against an NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip

AMD frames the rationale as today’s AI workflows demanding more memory and bandwidth than a typical workstation GPU handles, with cloud inference bills adding up when those workloads run all day1. The intended users are individuals and small teams constrained by shared infrastructure, plus organizations that need sensitive data kept under their own control. What actually governs whether running models locally works is the memory bandwidth constraint, but with neither pricing nor full system specifications published, cost-effectiveness cannot yet be compared.
