Salesforce and Anthropic Announce Claudeforce: 37 Sales Skills Inside Claude, Claude as Slack's Default Model
Salesforce and Anthropic announced Claudeforce on August 26, 2026. The first release, Salesforce in Claude, is a plugin with 37 prebuilt sales skills, available to select pilot customers now with open beta expected in September 2026. Claude also becomes the default model for Slack.
Salesforce and Anthropic announced Claudeforce, an expansion of their partnership, on August 26, 20261. The stated aim is to join Claude’s reasoning to the data, workflows, business logic, actions, and governance held on the Salesforce side, so that agentic work can run wherever work happens1.
The first release is Salesforce in Claude, delivered as a plugin carrying 37 prebuilt sales skills1. Meeting prep, deal health review, and pipeline review are among them, and the companies say sellers can reason over live revenue context, update pipeline, and take governed action from inside Claude1.
Running the CRM without opening the CRM
What changes here is where the CRM gets touched from. Salesforce frames it this way in the release: for decades enterprise software required people to navigate a static UI by hand to get work done, and now that agents can reach data, workflows, and rules directly, software becomes the system powering every interface1.
The layer making that possible is called AIforce, which the company describes as an enterprise harness that opens business data and workflows to any agent through MCP servers, APIs, and CLI tools1. Salesforce in Claude sits on top of it and routes actions back through Salesforce, so business rules apply whenever an action is taken1.
The 37 skills were built jointly by Salesforce and Anthropic, and the companies say they were engineered around Claude’s reasoning, agentic tool use, and generative UI rather than being generic CRM prompts wrapped around an API1. On first run, the onboarding reads a seller’s context from Salesforce, Slack, and any connector in Claude, then assembles a dashboard covering their accounts, pipeline, and live data1.
The setup path is the operationally interesting part. An admin connects it once, authentication and permissions are managed centrally, and every seller on the team has access from day one — no per-user setup, no new permissions model to build, no account-by-account re-auditing, according to the release1. Whether an existing permissions design survives untouched is usually the first question asked of an integration like this, and the release addresses it head on.
The other direction: Claude inside Agentforce and Slack
The partnership runs both ways. Claude is available in Agentforce, serving as a reasoning model for the Atlas Reasoning Engine, powering Agentforce Vibes and Agentforce Coworker by default, and selectable in Agent Builder1. Through Amazon Bedrock, Claude is also available inside the Salesforce Trust Boundary, which the companies present as letting customers in regulated industries deploy domain-specific AI while keeping data and AI workloads secure1.
The pull toward keeping AI inputs and outputs under a company’s own control showed up earlier this month in Claude Enterprise’s inference hooks, published by Anthropic on August 5, where an organization’s security server inspects prompts and tool responses before they reach the model. That points in the same direction as the Trust Boundary arrangement here.
For Slack, the release states plainly that Claude is the default model1. It powers Slackbot by default, supports team decision-making through Claude Tag, and comes in as a founding partner for Slack Code1. Slack Code shipped on August 20: tag a coding agent in a conversation and a dedicated code channel spins up for that task. Claude, Devin, Copilot, ChatGPT, and Vercel were named as participants at the time; Claude is now positioned as Slack’s default model.
The two companies also describe themselves as strategic customers of each other1. Salesforce is Anthropic’s preferred CRM, with Slack as its preferred multi-player work platform for internal teams1. Going the other way, Salesforce names Claude as the default model for Slack AI, Slackbot, Salesforce in Claude, Headless 360, Agentforce Coworker, and Claude Code across its engineering organization, and says it will make Claude Code and Claude Enterprise available to all of its developers and knowledge workers1. On its internal Slackbot use, the company reports 8.1 million hours of annualized productivity gains, more than doubling quarter over quarter1. That is Salesforce’s own accounting, not a third-party measurement.
When it can actually be used
Availability is staged. Salesforce in Claude is available to select pilot customers now, with open beta expected in September 20261. Additional prebuilt skills begin launching in late 20261. Pricing and packaging carry a subject-to-change note, and no figures appear in the release1.
The “#1 AI” and “#1 AI CRM” phrasing in the release headline is the companies’ own positioning rather than an outside assessment1. Marc Benioff, Salesforce’s chair and CEO, said probabilistic intelligence alone does not run a company and deterministic systems do not reason, while Dario Amodei, Anthropic’s CEO and co-founder, framed it as companies being able to point Claude at the customer information and business context they have been building in Salesforce for decades1.
What a buyer actually has to weigh
Announcements pairing a company that holds business data with one that holds a model are not unusual, but this one is specific about whose screen the work happens on. If sellers can get through the day from inside Claude, the CRM license stays while the application they open daily changes. For customers on the Agentforce side, the model running Vibes and Coworker by default is now named.
Two things decide it: how well the 37 skills map onto a given sales process, and whether operating inside the Trust Boundary satisfies a given regulatory requirement. Neither can be settled from the text of a release. Where announcements such as Claude Opus 5 concerned the model on its own, this one places Claude inside another company’s business platform. Checking the actual granularity of the skills and how the permissions behave once open beta starts in September is the practical next step.
