Claude Console Adds Personal Keys and Service Account Keys

Anthropic enabled personal keys and service account keys in the Claude Console on August 27, 2026. A key stops working when the linked account is removed from an organization, and workspace API keys remain supported as a legacy option.

When several people share one API key, the invoice tells you nothing about whose work spent what, and it is hard to confirm the key has not wandered off. Tying keys to accounts closes that from both the usage-accounting and the access-control side. Keys belonging to an account that has left the organization stopping on their own also cuts directly into the inventory work.
