Bitdeer Leases Norway AI Data Center to Volta Subsidiary for $4.7B Over 16 Years

Bitdeer announced on August 4 a 16-year colocation lease with a Volta subsidiary covering 121 IT MW at its Tydal campus in Norway, worth about $4.7 billion, or roughly $8.0 billion over 24 years if extended. The full capacity is configured for NVIDIA GPUs.

Bitdeer AI, part of Bitdeer Technologies Group (NASDAQ: BTDR), announced on August 4, 2026 that its subsidiary Tydal Data Center AS had executed a 16-year colocation lease and services agreement with Volta Tydal AS, a subsidiary of NVIDIA Cloud Partner Volta 1. The agreement covers 121 IT megawatts (supported by an estimated 133 gross MW) at the Tydal campus in Norway, representing about $4.7 billion in contracted revenue over the initial 16-year term, rising to roughly $8.0 billion over 24 years if an 8-year renewal option is exercised 1.

The entire 121 IT MW will be configured to run NVIDIA GPUs, and Bitdeer describes the tenant’s customer only as “a leading AI lab” without naming it 1. Dell Technologies is the technology provider 1. Delivery is split into two equal phases across four data halls, targeting commencement on December 31, 2026 and March 31, 2027 1. Bitdeer says the completed facility is expected to have a PUE of approximately 1.1 and to run on 100% renewable energy, and describes the location as having dual grid connectivity and renewable local hydropower 1. Volta’s obligations are expected to be backstopped by roughly $1.3 billion in letters of credit arranged by affiliates of J.P. Morgan and another global financial institution 1.

TechCrunch, citing Bloomberg, reported that the AI lab is Anthropic and that its deal with Volta runs six years and is worth $10 billion 2. Neither company has confirmed the customer, so that identification is not established fact.
